ABOUT AL MARMOOM DESERT 10 KM RACE AND 5 KM DUNE RUN
Al Marmoom 10 KM Desert Race and 5KM Dune Run will take place Sunday 12th March 2023 at the spectacular Dunes Platform in Al Marmoom Desert Conservation Reserve.
Al Marmoom 10 KM and 5 KM races test physical endurance, courage and determination as runners take on the challenging desert landscape. Each race is set to challenge competitors’ physical endurance, courage, and determination as they take on the tough desert terrain in the Al Marmoom Desert Conservation Reserve.
Trophies and prizes will be awarded for the top 3 rankings in each race category (male & female). All participants will receive finisher medals.
Al Marmoom Ultramarathon races supports Al Marmoom Desert Conservation Reserve’s environmental commitment as one of the world’s leading eco desert sports and tourism destinations and wildlife conservation preserves.

• Who is eligible to enter the race?

  10 KM and 5 KM Races: Eligible participants must be aged 15 years and over. Participants below 18 years of age, must obtain parent’s/guardian’s consent to enter.

• What are the race categories?

  10 KM Desert Race Male & Female
  5 KM Dune Run Male & Female

• What are the cut off times?

  1 Hour 50 Minutes: 10 KM Desert Race
  1 Hour 20 Minutes: 5 KM Dune Run
  Any runner who exceeds the maximum authorized time shall be disqualified and must return their bib to the steward. Any runner who arrives at a check point/finish point after the deadline shall be disqualified.

• What is the 10KM Race Schedule?

  Cut Off Time: 1 Hour 50 Minutes
  05:00 AM: Athlete Village Arrival & Registration
  07:00 AM: Start 10KM Desert Race
  09:00 AM: End 10KM Desert Race
  09:30 AM: Awards Ceremony
  10:00 AM: Al Marmoom Ultramarathon 10 KM Race 2023 Ends

• When is the registration closing?

  Thursday 9th March 2023 or when Al Marmoom 10 KM Desert Race and 5 KM Dune Run 2023 capacity is full.

• Race Pack / Number collection details?

  All successfully registered participants will receive their race pack on the event day during registration.

• Where will the base camp be located?

  The athlete village will be in the Al Marmoom Desert Conservation Reserve situated at the spectacular Dunes Platform.

• EVENT WAIVER

  Each participant has informed themselves of any medical contraindications they may have, that may affect their participation in the Al Marmoom Ultramarathon 10 KM Desert Race and 5 KM Dune Run, and absolves the race organizers, including FittGROUP directors, employees, crew, contractors, suppliers, partners and associates (including medical and technical staff) of any responsibility for medical problems or injuries that they may incur during the event. By signing the race rules and waiver, each participant confirms that they are aware of this and agrees explicitly not to hold the organizer liable nor to claim compensation in any way.

• What is the course/ circuit difficulty level and nature of the terrain?

  10 KM Desert Race
  The run elevation is at sea level.
  The 10 KM Desert Race route takes runners round the lakes and then over a mixed desert terrain of hard sand tracks and sand dunes of varying heights.
  The terrain is a mix of different levels of sand dunes and hard sand tracks.
  
  5KM Dune Run
  The run elevation is at sea level.
  The 5 KM Dune Run route takes runners over high challenging sand dunes.
  The heights of dunes will vary from challenging high to ridges and troughs.

• Will there be any support stations and where are they located?

  Al Marmoom Ultramarathon will have regular checkpoints and will offer hydration, refreshments, and medical assistance.
  Runners must bring their own re-usable, refillable water bottles.

• Is parking available?

  The athlete village will be in the Al Marmoom Desert Conservation Reserve situated at the spectacular Dunes Platform.
