A 5KM Desert Dune Race Across the Sands in Al Marmoom Desert Conservation Reserve
5KM Al Marmoom Dune Run for the community will take place Sunday 12th March 2023 at the spectacular Dunes Platform in Al Marmoom Desert Conservation Reserve and will take runners across the desert over high sand dunes.
Al Marmoom Dune Run is organized as part of the Al Marmoom Ultramarathon series.
Al Marmoom Dune Run supports Al Marmoom Desert Conservation Reserve’s environmental commitment as one of the world’s leading eco desert sports and tourism destinations and wildlife conservation preserves.
Trophies and prizes will be awarded to the top 3 rankings in each race category and all participants will receive finisher medals.

• Who is eligible to enter the run?

  Eligible participants must be aged 15 years and over. Participants below 18 years of age, must obtain parent’s/guardian’s consent to enter.

• What are the run categories?

  Open 5 KM Male
  Open 5 KM Female

• Run pack/numbers collection details?

  All successfully registered participants will receive their run pack on the event day during registration.

• Will there be support stations? If yes, how many, where, providing what support?

  Difficulty: The run route will take participants across and over a challenging desert terrain
  Highlights: Route navigation
  Participants must follow the route as marked out by the organizers, passing at a maximum distance of 5 meters from the markers. Failing to do so may incur penalties. The course will be clearly marked approximately every 50 - 100 meters. The organizers will provide briefing outlining the route conditions and there will be constant monitoring of all the runners during the run. Any participant withdrawing from the race must notify a race official as soon as possible.

• When is the registration closing?

  Thursday 9th March 2023 or when Al Marmoom 10 KM Desert Race and 5 KM Dune Run 2023 capacity is full.

• Ranking & prizes:

  Trophies for the top 3 rankings in each race category (male & female)
  All participants will receive finisher medals.

• What is the cut off time for the run?

  Run to be completed in 1 hour 20 minutes
  Any runner who exceeds the maximum authorized time shall be disqualified with a DNF (Did Not Finish) and must return their bib to the steward. Any runner who arrives at a check point/finish point after the deadline shall be disqualified.
