The Abu Dhabi Sports Council presents 'The Al Wathba Track Cycling Race-Time Trial' is a time trial event designed for both individual cyclists and teams (3 cyclists). Participants will tackle the 16 km course, testing their speed, endurance, and precision. • What is a Time Tiral?

  A bicycle time trial is a type of race in which cyclists compete individually or in teams to complete a set course in the shortest possible time. Unlike other cycling races where riders start together, in a time trial, cyclists start at intervals (often 30 seconds or one minute apart) and race against the clock rather than directly against each other. The aim is to finish with the fastest time.

• Do I need to use a specific TIME TRIAL bike?

  No, you do not need to use a time trial bike. Results will be separated into TT Bikes and Road Bikes

• When does the race start?

  The first riders will begin at 7:00pm sharp. TEAMS will start first with INDIVIDUALS starting after the last team has departed.

• How often do riders start?

  Riders/ Teams will be released from the start ramp every 30 seconds until the final rider has departed. There will be NO pause in this process once it starts. All riders must be ready to cycle

• Do riders start on a ramp?

  Yes, riders will start on a purpose-built ramp. Starting from a slightly elevated position helps riders accelerate quickly and gain momentum, which is especially useful in a race where every second counts. The ramp allows them to get up to speed faster than starting from a flat, stationary position.

• How is a TEAM result calculated?

  Team results are taken from when the LAST rider in the team passes over the finish line

• How do I know my race number?

  When you registered and paid for the race, you will have received a confirmation email. On the bottom of this email is a QR code. Please show this QR code to the check in team and they will assign you a race number and timing chip

• Do I have to wear a helmet?

  Yes, helmets are MANDATORY for all riders. Helmets will be checked before riders are placed on the start ramp

• What is a TT team versus Road Bike team?

  If a team has mixed bike types ( i.e at least 1 person has a TT bike) , that team automatically is a TT team and NOT a road bike team. If the opposite is true ( i.e at least one person has a road bike) the team is STILL considered a TT team.
