This 5 day climbing holiday in Margalef, Spain can either be an introduction to rock climbing or an opportunity to improve your climbing technique outdoors.
It is suitable for anyone from beginners up to 7a.
The rock at Margalef is limestone and there are 1000s of different routes to choose. The aspects of each area is different so we can climb in the shade and in the sun. Everything is bolted and the holds are typically pockets. If you are lucky you will get to see world famous climbers on the hardest rock climb in the world.
We will learn to use all the equipment required that you need for rock climbing, focusing on effective and safe belaying of a lead climber and the technique for proper leading routes in different types of rock.
We also learn skills for becoming a self-sufficient climber, like setting up a top-rope, cleaning routes with different anchor systems and a range of climbing techniques like abseiling.
We will be based in Margalef, a world class destination for climbers, but will also be able to visit and climb in the nearby crags of Siurana as well as hiking and exploring the Spanish villages and wineries on rest day.

• Who will be my leader

  Sean has lived in Dubai for 12 years and splits his time between here and the Pyrenees.
  He has led 4 expeditions to the summit of Everest and 15 expeditions to mountains over 8000m as well as many around the globe.
  He has also repointed 8b+ on rock.
  If we employ further guides they will be qualified and experienced mountain guides or mountaineering instructors.

• What equipment do I need

  When you sign up we go through everything that you will need.
  Our connections with retailers will give you a discount and ensure you look good and are safe.

• What level of experience do I need

  Participants vary and we try to steer similar abilities to the same course.

  No prior climbing or trekking experience is needed for most of the groups just a basic level of fitness.

  However once you sign up we expect you to take regular exercise and treks in the build up.

  This not only helps you but gives the team deeper strength.

  Everybody has different tastes and budgets so we leave the booking of accommodation to you.
  We have suggestions and can help you to find something suitable.

• Travelling to my base for the week

  Most of our courses in the Pyrenees are centred around Font Romeu, Andorra, and the national parks here.
  The nearest airports are Barcelona or Lleida.
  You can also hire a car to get here or arrange a pickup.
  All of our courses start on a Monday so make sure you arrive on at least the Sunday before.
  If you have booked a bespoke course or an extension that covers the weekend we will send separate instructions.
  Other airports that are possible are Toulouse, Girona
  .
