The Bike Abu Dhabi Festival is bringing a Gran Fondo to the Emirate!
Starting in the capital city of Abu Dhabi and going all the way to the Garden City of Al Ain, the very first
Bike Abu Dhabi Gran Fondo is a challenging 150km race for our avid cycling community.
With a total prize pool of AED 2,000,000 this Gran Fondo is the highlight of the cycling season.
Participants will be split into different groups. The first group is dedicated to elite men and women (UAE
clubs and teams). The remaining participants will be split based on their average speed. Participants are
free to select from speed pods which best suit their abilities.


Entertainment
The Bike Abu Dhabi Festival is also highlighted by the UCI Urban Cycling World Championships held
alongside Abu Dhabi Corniche at Nation Towers Khalidiya car park, including a village area full of
entertainment for visitors to enjoy.


Teams
Teams who register more than 14 riders per team will have a 25% discount applied on their overall entry fee
Step by Step guide for teams to register:
1. Teams can register either directly via the Premier Online registration platform or by emailing [email protected]
2. The registration needs to be processed by 1 nominated person from the team that inputs or shares all the required rider details for all the teams riders
2a. For registration via the Premier Online registration platform the nominated person will need select Teams in the registration section and follow the required steps. Payment for all riders will be done directly on the platform
2b. For registration via [email protected] the nominated person will need to reach out to the support and then receive a form that needs to be filled with details of all riders. Payment for all riders will be processed with the Premier Online support team
3. Teams can select between the following categories
3a. Gran Fondo only AED 250 per rider
3b. Gran Fondo + Jersey  AED 350 per rider
4. Teams registering more than 14 riders will receive a 25% on their overall registration fee



Professional riders
Athletes who have been registered as Professionals part of a UCI Worldteam or UCI Proteam, for the year 2022, are admitted to participate exclusively for promotional purposes. Authorization of the sports club to which they belong needs to be shown and riders have to present themselves to the jury.

• What estimated time will the event finish?

  The cut off time for the event is 9am allowing 2 and a half hours for 60km participants and 2 hours and 15 minutes for the 30km participants.

• How is this event handling Covid-19 related concerns?

  Participants to wear a mask before the start and once you finish the event (no need to wear a mask while participating).
  Staff will wear masks for the entire duration of the event and sanitize regularly.
  Self-social distancing of 2m at all times except when participating.
  Self-service water stations at the finish line.
  Sanitize your hands regularly at designated stations.
  If you feel unwell on the morning of the event with flu-like symptoms, please stay at home!

  TT bikes are not allowed in this race.

• Finisher Medal:

  At the completion of the event participants can collect a finishers' medal from the table and avail of the self-service water and then please make your way away from the event start/finish area and please continue to be aware of social distancing guidelines. We ask that everyone refrain from any hugging, high fives or handshakes - elbow and foot shakes are acceptable - we still want you to have fun! Race organizers have been working diligently to develop adjustments that encourage a safe and fair event while promoting physical distancing in every aspect of the event. Athletes should abide by the directives of the race director, event staff, volunteers, and the Hudayriyat Island security.

• Volunteers:

  Please thank the volunteers as they are volunteering their own time to help you enjoy your race and get you home safely to your families. Please also respect the host community as we are guests and please adhere to best practices to help protect others. You MUST wear an appropriate mask whilst moving in and around the venue prior to the start of your run. Whilst running in your race you may remove your mask but please remember to maintain the noted distance between runners and allow adequate spacing when passing other runners. Bag Drop - There will be NO bag drop onsite.

• Special Notes:

  -Professional riders

  membership as professional, are admitted to participate exclusively in promotional
  purposes. Authorization of the sports club to which they belong needs to be shown
  to the jury.
  They will not be able to participate in any way in the ranking or be eligible for the prize
  money.
  -Anti-doping
  In case of being tested positive during the anti-doping controls carried out at the
  the event, or in case of being tested positive in the 6 (six) months following it, the
  organization reserves the right to ask for compensation from the participant
  Requesting an amount of AED 200,000.00 to cover the damages to the image of the
  event.

• Entry Categories:

  For the Gran Fondo we need to categorize the participants into different groups
  based on their level in order to manage the start procedure:
  • Elite men & women
  • Speed group 1 (42km/h average speed)
  • Speed group 2 (40km/h average speed)
  • Speed group 3 (38km/h average speed)
  • Speed group 4 (36km/h average speed)
  • Speed group 5 (34km/h average speed)
  • Teams would go into the elite category

• Team Registration:

  Each team can register up to 15 riders per team. There is no restriction on the number of teams that can be registered (for example two teams can be registered as Team A and Team B).
  
  Per team one team manager shall be nominated that will be the point of contact for the organizers.
  
  
  
  There is no dedicated prize money category for teams, riders within a team will compete for individual classification.
  
  However there will be a podium ceremony (medals only) for the best teams.
