The Himam Trail Run Race is back for its 2024 edition, offering runners the chance to push their limits and test their endurance on some of the most breathtaking trails in Oman and across the Middle East. Building on the success of last year’s race, organizers have revealed three distances that suit all levels of ability, including the classic and challenging Al Hajar Ultra 110 KM. This race kicks off on 05 December, starting in the picturesque town of Al Hamra. Runners will embark on a journey through the rugged beauty of Jabal Akhdar before descending into Birkat Al Mouz. Along the way, they will navigate rocky paths, climb steep inclines, and take in the stunning views of the surrounding landscape, ultimately gaining a total of 5700 meters of elevation.
Trail runners can also take on the technical and scenic 55 KM or 20 KM races, both starting on 06 December in Birkat Al Mouz. No matter which distance they choose, participants can expect a truly unforgettable experience as they navigate rocky paths, climb steep inclines, and take in the breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. The 20KM distance is a completely new trail designed to give runners scenic views of authentic Omani landscapes.
The three races have been included in the acclaimed UTMB Index, which means that runners finishing any of the races will have a recognized ranking in the UTMB Index, allowing them to see their global stance. Finishers will also enjoy getting points from the International Trail Running Association (ITRA), an added benefit that helps runners apply for ITRA qualifying races.

By what time should I arrive at the event venue?
- If you're driving or flying into Oman, it's prefereable to arrive a day or two earlier at the location and stay in an of the surrounding hotels/apartments in Nizwa, Al Hamra, Jabal Akhdar or Birkat Al Mouz.

What are the start time(s) of the event?
The start of the Al Hajar ULTRA 110km distance is 7:00 AM on 05 Dec 2024 in Al Hamra, whereas the Skyward Canyon 55km starts in Izki on 06 Dec 2024 at 7:00 AM. The Scenic Sprint 25km will be at 3:30 PM in Birkat Al Mouz.

What are my options for parking?
With the routes' starts and finshhes being in the middles of rural villages, there won't be any challenge in finding a park. However, the routes will be closed off at the day of the event to clear roads and routes for runners to enjoy a great and safe experience. There are plenty of parking areas otherwise.

Race Pack / Number collection details?
The race pack collection days will be specified in the runner guide that will be published in Jul 2024. Moreover, it will be also announced closer to the event by organizers through all communication channels.

Will there be support stations? If yes, how many, where, providing what support?
There will be feeding stations manned by great volunteers who will cheer runners and give them exceptional Omani hospitality. The detailed stations will be released with the Runner's Guide for runners to plan their energy and paces well.
