Lhotse is a perfect 8000m to test yourself on. Whilst being much cheaper than its neighbor, Everest it is still one of the big 8000m peaks and only 300m less in height.
While not posing substantial technical climbing challenges on the southern standard route, Lhotse presents dangers such as altitude sickness, weather, and wind, as well as significant hazards from avalanches and the Khumbu Icefall.

Lhotse can be seen as a stepping stone for Everest in future years or even to attempt both in the same season.
