Dolphin Energy Doha Dash 2014
“Good in general - more effort is needed for next event”
“The place for run was awesome, organization-poor - That was the first time in my running life that I paid registration and didn't get the package (only the start number!) and what's more, I didn't know the start time. Somebody (some girl, not the organization team) told me that my run have already started!!!! Please! If you need some help with organize next time, I'm here :)”
“Fun, room for improvement - As a participant in the 5km race, I have three major complaints: (1) Registration on the day was completely disorganised: there were far too few staff members to check participants in, causing people to have to stand in very long queues. (2) The bathrooms needed to be better marked and more made available. There were too few, and many didn't have enough toilet paper. (3) The races started late, which affects runners very badly and throws off pre-race hydration and bathroom breaks.”
“Superb event! the most organised event in Qatar - Kudos! to organizer & sponsors. The best run I ever participated in Qatar from Doha College, Standard Chartered & Ooredoo. Me and my family enjoyed the race. The Good things about this run: 1) Ample of tarmac car park, 2) Nice room for meeting point & rest area, 3) unlimited good food and drinks, 4) Nice medals & valuable price for winners, 5) Nice goodies & T shirt, 6) free massage, 7) Nice virtual games, 8) free Kangoo jump, 10) Enjoyable warm up session. Keep it up for next year event. ”
“Good Race, need improvement - A Good Race in Doha, could be better organized. 5KM start time 9:20 AM was already late start on top of it the delay was horrible and forced runner to run in high temperature. Registration was total chaos could be avoided by just increasing number of counters. Wrong size T Shirts were distributed, I got an XL while my size was Medium, many participants were left without goody bags. Post race food and family entertainment was great and much appreciated”
“I enjoyed it. - The cause was good, I enjoyed it, would like to participate again, if possible please issue a certificate with medal. ”
“Fun - Registration process needs to be simplified”
“Great opportunity of participation - Track - Very good Water Station - Need to add one more station at 750M Medal - Excellent Give aways - Add bit more to attract the family and kids Registration - Need to increase the desks - every 200 numbers should have a counter. I didnt get time to warmup before race, even i reach the location 90 minutes prior to the event time and the delay made to count me stood on queue for 140 Minutes. Counter 1 - 001 to 200 Counter 2 - 201- to 400 - - Counter 10 - 1801 - 2000 easy for all”
“Organization requires substantial improvement. - Catering was very good. Event pack collection process was awful, requiring participants to be in queue for over an hour and the start of the race to be delayed. Also, race timing and result service was near non-existent. It should not be that difficult to provide participants with a printed result, including ranking by sex/age categories.”
“This event motive me to improve my strength - I enjoyed to participant and I will be happy to participant again. ”
“I'm greatly inspired to participate in more events - Great effort.....I really enjoyed the program.”
“Wonderful event! - I loved the track , and family next year!the giveaways, the organisation and all the fun! I will definitely come again with friends and family next year!”
“Terrible organization - Waited 2 hours in line for nothing - not tshirts in my size. Race so horribly organized and announced that 5 km started 40 min late .... But nobody could hear and many of us left chasing the pack when we finally realized our race had started. So frustrating and upsetting. Especially since legs were tired after 2 hrs standing. Worse management company ever - they were too busy to answer questions or be bothered to help. ”
“Will not participate again - Didn't have the results for my son Georges Nayfe”
“Registration on that event poor bad.. - 1. Very good place, food, parking, marshall, paramedics, people.. 2. Bad registration at the event big queing 3. So many want to join without on the same event but no allowed. Hope they alloeed next time See u 2015”
“I couldn't participate - I came early just 30 minutes, so I couldn't participate in the contest in all cases I couldn't participate because was sick, wish to participate next time, It would be a great chance to participate again.”
“Not well organised - Upon arriving at the location the registration queque was extremely long! They had run out of adult shirts and bags by 10:00am. The mini-marathon race started 30 minutes later, and was not communicated well to the parents. One of the marshalls actually said 'get the children off the track'! The entry to the start and location of the finish line was not well signed. The W Hotel provided a lovely breakfast for the runners. Fun but not well organised!”
“Great family event - This is a fun family friendly event. While I ran the 5k, my wife and daughter ran the 3k race. It was a lot of fun, and had lots of things for my family to do. We will definitely do it again next year. The only suggest I have is that they need to have more bathrooms. They only had one pair of Men's, and Ladies for EVERYONE. See you in 2015.”
“A good race but the registration was a nightmare - Maybe all packs could be sent out to people before the race day or they could have a much better system. We waited in line for over an hour and then they started the race without us even realizing. ”
“My first run - I like too much. This was a wonderful experience. The pre - event infrastructure was very nice. Thanks all!”
“Too long to collect race number - Race day organisation :( 2 hrs in line is unacceptable when the numbers of entrants is know ? Why ask for shirt size when none is available to collect therefore a waste of entry fee! After race food pack was good Online registration good”
“Extremely unorganized event - Unorganized, one word to sum it up. The registration at the event was a serpentine queue of 90 mins before the race. The dash actually started without all Participants at the start line as quite a few couldn't complete the registration or collect their bibs in time for the start, even though the start time was delayed. ADVISE: DONT BOTHER WITH SUCH EVENTS”
“Nice day in the sun marred by major - We stood in line for one hour and 15 minutes to get our race bibs. The professional sports group or whatever was the name of the company in charge was totally useless. A joke! We had staff come to us asking almost 10 times if we worked for dolphin energy, the headline sponsor. Apparently their own employees were the VIPs! This did not give me a positive impression about the sponsor. In fact from now on I will consider them with negative feelings! MC was ridiculous and annoying. Get a pro!”
“Nice arrangement - All systemetically ”
“A new experience...my first competition - Volunteers need to know what they're doing! I asked more than 3 volunteers where I can get the results from and they all were clueless!!! Other than that and the slight delay, I had a blast! ”
“Good event, could use pre-race packet pickup - I enjoyed this event; however, there is room for improvement. The race started nearly an hour late due to the long packet pickup queue. This can be mitigated by placing the names of the participants on the bibs, then filing them alphabetically by last name & sending folks to their respective letters. This eliminates looking people up & searching for bib numbers. It keeps family members' bibs together, even when they are registered for different races. Age group awards would be good, too! Thanks! ”
“Great - Lots of fun and enjoyment but it should separate the elite or professional runner from beginner so they have a chance to get a awards or trophy for the new runners or non professional runners.”
“Awesome!Needs to be a little more organized though - The organization was a little off. I did not know when my race started until last minute. There wasn't a lot of people to lead us to the right places. Other than that the event was very nice and fun. The only thing I would criticize is the organization, I was lost when I first got my bib number. I didn't know where to go, many other people faced the same issue. Nonetheless, it was an awesome experience overall. ”
“Worth it! - Worth my time :) Gave me a great first time experience. As long as you arrive early, you won't experience any inconvenience, that's proven :) Hope to join again on 2015!”
“Disgraceful organisation - ARRIVED AND HAD TO QUEUE FOR OVER AN HOUR AND 45 MINUTES FOR REGISTRATION. WAS A COMPLETE JOKE. BY THE TIME WE GOT THROUGH REGISTRATION THE RACE WAS STARTING!! RACE WAS 40 MINUTES LATE. RAN OUT OF REFRESHMENTS SANDWICHES. GUY WITH THE FASTEST TIME DIDNT WIN BECAUSE HE DIDNT HAVE A CHANCE TO START WITH EVERYONE ELSE - SEE CHIP TIMES! WORST ORGANISED EVENT IVE EVER BEEN TO. I HAD HIGH HOPES BUT WONT BE BACK NEXT YEAR - NOT WORTH THE RISK OF THE SAME HAPPENING AGAIN ”
“Very disappointed with the registration - Very disorganised. we were there by 715am and only got to register at 10 past 9. The cue was terrible and the fact that they have a schedule for every event should have separate the registration. Shirt size runs off quickly - medium size were finished by the time we registered. you can only see disappointment on people's faces, one even quoted this is a national waiting day not sports day!”
“HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT / What a mess - 1) Why pre-register if you have to wait 45 min in line to get bib number? 2) Why pay money for a run and not get anything for your money? After getting my bib number I went to get the stated swag bag and shirt and there were none left. A lame medal and box with a muffin, banana and apple was not worth 100 QAR This was not a worth the 100 QAR spent pre-registering”
“Poorly organized registration dampened the fun - I've never had to wait in line for over an hour to register for a run! Please modify your system for the future. Because it took so long to register everyone they delayed the start of the races, but not enough. I was still dropping off my bag when the gun went off and I went searching for the start line. Took longer to register than the race itself! ”
“Fun, I have enjoyed the event - Continue to arrange the same event every year, to encourage others to stay healthy. Of course much better if have additional prizes. :)”
“Good event but let down by registration process - Registration was a big let-down - my wife missed seeing our son and I in the 3km run (even with all the delays) due to waiting in line for over an hour, only to be told they had run out of T-shirts. Run start times constantly being pushed back was annoying. Wife and daughters finally completed the Mini-Dash only to be told that all the breakfast boxes were gone. Music was too loud, especially when waiting on the start line for so long.”
“First Doha Dash... - First of all, the lines were too long. The event seemed disorganized from the start. I arrived 1.5 hours prior to the event, barely made it through registering, then rushed to start the race. I couldn't understand the announcer. I paid for a T shirt and didn't receive one. I didn't get the "guaranteed" race goody package. Next year's event should be more thought out. If people are paying for items with their entry fee, they should receive those items.”
“Joined a paid event but did not get the package. - Very disorganized, the queue was very long and a lot of people who "knows" someone inside were being called up to skip the line. when we reached the registration desk, we were only given the race bib, and told to get the other stuff (race shirt and goody bag) in th eeother table where it is even worse, they said there are no more shirts and goody bags. when i asked why, they said somebody took more than 1, and when i asked how comme they let it happen, th eguy just shrugs did nothing.”
“On site Registration is unbelievable - Never in Qatar event to collect the race pack the day before, I do not know why no one can do this. The registration on the day is always miserable.”
“Doha Dashed hopes - I had high hopes for this event as the pre-event communication was so thorough and frequent but the actual event was a total let down. We got lost on the way to the event, we'd never been there before and as we got near to Lusail we started to follow signs for National Sports Day events which we wrongly assumed to be the Dash, these signs lead to a different event being organised in Lusail. Given that things are notoriously difficult to find in Doha, that there were road works and diversions in place and another event happening in the same area, it might have been a good idea to have some signs out on the roads leading up to the event (every other National Sports Day event I saw was very well signposted). Registration was an absolute shambles. We queued for over an hour and were still no where near the front when we were approached by one of the organisers who offered us an unassigned run number as the race was due to start in 5 minutes (40 minutes late but I'm guessing it was pushed back because of the length of the registration queue). There was just no need for the queue to be that long. Every other event we've been to in Doha has several listings posted near the registration desk of names and run numbers and so all you have to do is go to the registration queue that your number falls into, bibs are handed out much quicker as each assistant only has to search for your number in a small pile of bibs, not everyone scrambling around in what can only be described as chaos. The PA system was quote good and the MC was fairly encouraging but one minute he told everyone that the Fitness First instructors were coming out for the warm up and the next he said "3,2,1, go!" The course itself was well signposted and there were sufficient water stations for a 5km, the mini-support teams dotted along the course was also a welcome boost. The finish was fine but the medals were just handed out rather than placed on which I always think is a nice touch after you've done a run. We hadn't had time to collect our goody bag before the race due to the huge queue so were very disappointed to discover that there was nothing left after the race. The man at the collection desk was spectacularly unhelpful and was more interested in eating his fruit salad than helping. It was only after speaking to two of the organising staff that someone suggested looking in the VIP section for t-shirts and we were finally given one as they still had some left over, none of the other advertised goodies (bag, water bottle) were left. We were told that extras of everything had been ordered but everything had been given away and this was largely due to the shambolic way in which the registration was handled. Goody bag with bib collection, at finish line or via a coupon/rib off section of your run number would have avoided people taking more than one and ensure that there was enough for everyone. The breakfast from the W hotel was also very disappointing-one muffin does not a breakfast make. I haven't received any information about chip times but I am assuming that is because my official run number will have been registered as a no-show and there are no contact details attached to the unassigned number I was given. Overall a very disappointing run, I didn't stay to see any of the other activities because I was so discouraged by what I had already seen that I didn't expect it to be any good. I won't be doing this again unless it is managed by someone else, PSG don't have a clue. I would recommend that others go to the Aspire instead as their events are far better organised and they never run out of goody bags!”
“Helping people w/ special needs is the best part! - It was an amazing experience! I was able to help people with special needs and at the same time, I broke my record in my 5K Run in the Phlippines in 2004! I'm glad to be back in 5K! Well done organisers! More energy!!! If we can start a little bit earlier, it would be better!”
“About overall organization - On Line registration process was long, too long. I think you know before the number of participants so why prepare so few check in desks? No information received about the right time of starting: only loud music (it's personal opinion, I don't like loud music, If I I can go to dancing club) and no countdown for the start so we didn't know if warm or wait to warm etc... also the staff in track they didn't know about how minutes delay. I will maybe participate to next, but many people were disappointed and they told me that probably will not do it again. Regards”
“Nice race but poorly organized. - 1) Heard about from a friend, not any of the choices above. 2) You should have an event the night before the Run, with exhibits and giveaways, to pass out numbers. Or mail them, if possible. 3) Timed results were NOT available online within 24 hours if the race.”
“An Awesome life experience sports event - Dears Event Organizers, I need to praise you all for the great event organization and I'd strongly suggest to make it twice a year @ Qatar. good job & keep it up Mohamed 55104774 ”
“It was a great event - You should allocate a prize for 1 km lady walk”
“Excellent Programme and activities - To Dolphin Energy and sponsors, thank you for a great and FUN-tastic experienced! god bless your companies!”
“Registration process needs improvement - We were told to arrive to collect our race packs at least 1.5hrs before the 5k race which was scheduled for 9:20am. I stood in a huge queue from 8-9:40am to register and having been informed in the queue that the race start would be delayed, there was then no further information given on the new start time. Once I reached the front of the queue there were no race packs left or competitor t-shirts. The actual race was great however, I suspect people will not return after the registration experience.”
“Awful organized event... - I was really looking forward to run on the Losail Race Circuit, but when I arrived there with my family it was a disaster we had to queue for 1hour and 15 min to collect our bib and shirt. Then the event got delayed because of the registration process. I think it was a one time experience for me, I don't liked to wait for 2.5 hours to run 20min.”
“Nice running event but not well organized - The registration process for the run was awful as we had to wait for 1.5 hrs. As I was pretty much in the back of the line we did not get the race pack except our number. The event started without us as we just dropped the bag and had to catch up with the crowd. The run itself and the supporters were great. Loved the guy just before the finish line. "Only 100 meters to go" ”
“Fabulous fantastic fine event - Reception, hospitality arrangements superb. Suggestions: 1 .Give badges to participants&guests. 2.Engage staff all the tents. 3. Receive original id then give cycles to them. 4.Each events fix the medals before. 5 .Men, Women and children please categorised for medal/gift for marathons, calories burned competitions. ”
“Worst organised event i have attended. - HAVING RUN THE 10K OREEDOO RUN A NUMBER OF WEEKS AGO I WAS REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS 5K RUN. I CAN STATE CATEGORICALLY THAT THIS WAS THE WORST ORGANISED SPORTS EVENT I HAVE EVER PARTICIPATED IN. SERIOUS FLAW IN THE WAY IN WHICH NUMBERS WERE BEING HANDED OUT, PROCESS COMPLETELY INEFFICIENT AND MARSHALLS NOT UPDATING PEOPLE WITH REASONS FOR DELAY. THE 5 K RACE BEGAN WHILST SOME OF US WERE STILL GOING THROUGH THE REGISTRATION DESKS GETTING OUR NUMBERS AND ONE FRIEND WAS EVEN GIVEN A DIFFERENT NUMBER AS SOMEONE ELSE HAD BEEN GIVEN HIS. THIS REALLY IS AMATEUR STUFF AND THE COMPANY (PROFESSIONAL) CERTAINLY DOESNT LIVE UP TO IT'S NAME. RACE STARTED AND LOTS OF PEOPLE WERENT AT THE LINE SO BY THE TIME WE ACTUALLY STARTED THERE WAS ONLY A HANDFUL OF US. THE EVENT LACKED ANY ATMOSPHERE AND THE FOOD SUPPLIED AT THE END OF THE RACE WAS DISGRACEFUL. THE COMPANY WHO ORGANISED THIS EVENT NEED TO LOOK AT OTHER RACE ORGANISERS AND TAKE SOME NOTES, THE ENTIRE EVENT WAS RUN IN AN AMATEUR WAY AND I GOT THE SENSE THAT THE RIGHT ARM DIDNT KNOW WHAT THE LEFT WAS DOING. THE REGISTRATION PROCESS SHOULD HAVE BEEN SIMPLE GIVEN THE FACT THAT MOST IF NOT EVERYONE HAD PRE REGISTERED SO I CANT UNDERSTAND WHY THERE WAS SUCH A DELAY. IF THE OBJECTIVE OF THIS EVENT WAS TO PROMOTE HEALTH AND WELLBEING BY ENCOURAGING SPORTS AND EXERCISE AMONGST THE POPULATION THEN YOU NEED TO CONSIDER BRINGING IN MORE EXPERIENCED AND PROFESSIONAL ORGANISERS AS THIS EVENT LEFT MOST OF THOSE I SPOKE TO ( AND THERE WERE MANY) WITH A BITTER TASTE IN THEIR MOUTHS.”
“I had a great first ever fun run. Value for money! - Long queue in the registration causing the delay in race start should be improved next year.”
“Not that Good compared last year - Online registration was good. Problem at race day pack collection was terrible. I dont know why it takes too much time getting for the race pack (bib number t-shirt freebies etc, wherein we just have to get ir right away. Last year race collection was even better.Eventhough it is just a fun run or running for a cause organizer's must give all runners what's best for them. Food was great as usual but the location and accessibility is so poor. I think the right location for these is near to or right away from 3k/5k finish line. The route is not good for 3k due to poor signage route indicator. And even to the finish line, noboby will cheer for you because its too far from the crowd. For me last year is ok.I think timing event is late better to start earlier around 830am. too hot to run specially if you running past 9am.like for ladis walk around 11-1130am too hot for them.Maybe for the next year event to avoid delayed in registration maybe we can collect it earlier to some outlets to the sponsors, like vodafone outlets, dolphins etc. Prizes also can be adjusted or at least with top 10 winners or top 5 for men/women or with spcial przes (like cash phone etc) ”
“Ran out of EVERYTHING - I paid basically $28 USD and was promised a 5K run event, with a Tshirt, a medal, a water bottle, a drawstring bag, and a breakfast box. Well I got to the event almost 2 hours prior and the race was still pushed back an hour because of the registration process. Since I ran the 5K, I was apart of the last group to go. By the time we were able to register, there was no tshirts, water bottles, or drawstring bags left. So basically I paid $28 USD for a medal, a 5K run, and a banana. I really would like a refund of some sort, or at least get mailed the items that I was promised when I signed up. The event had very poor planning, and it seemed like they had no idea how many people were going to show up for the event, even though we all registeres online and that should give them an accurate count of personnel.”
“Event pack collection - It would be great if the registration/event pack collection process effectively.. ”
“Bad organization - Arriving there 1h30 before my run (5km) start time, we had to line up in a huge queue for more than 1h30 i.e. when arrived to the counter the initial run time was passed already … there was only few communication to people lining up, making us feeling more and more stressed … finally they had to postpone the run start half an hour later but that was communicated to us only 40 minutes after starting lining up. The event is based on registration, and the organizers for sure knew in advance that they will have more than 15000 participants, but they have prepared only a small registration counter with few staff. Even with zero experience in event organization one would have prepared many counters when the expected participants number is than big! When the run started, there was no clear communication, resulting in many people starting the run late just because they have missed the announcement (I say many competitors had such an experience)!”
“Bad Organization - Run Kit collection awful. More than one hour in the cue. Only three desks. And then all timing event in delay. Never seen a pack collection with this amount of partecipants organized same day and only 2 hours before race.”
“Total chaos morning of race - This race can be great but there definitely need to be some changes implemented. As we got closer (while driving) to the actual race location, some signage for the race would have been appreciated. The line for packet pickup on race morning was longer than an hour, that's way too long. You need more people handing out bibs etc. You can have different lines based on racers last names so there are organized queues. I would only consider it again if I knew you could get racers through the line much quicker. Especially with children, it was cold and long. I assume you knew how many racers were going to show up since all registration took place in advance so there was no reason for lack of support staff. One more comment would be to hand out the goody bags at the end since if you didn't have someone to hand them to, you had to run with the bag. Lastly, when you hand out water bottles at aid stations, don't give them with the cap off. If the runner wants to keep the bottle with them for awhile, they can't run with the top off. I had to stop and get a cap from the table. ”
“Poor organization - Poor organization of event pack collection/delivery. Should have had three lines...one for 1km, one for 3k and one for 5k sighn in. Because of the delays for sign in, the race did not start on time but was delayed for almost 40 minutes. Unacceptable. Truly. Not enough restroom facilities. Results have not posted and it is now eight hours since the race ended. Unacceptable.”
“Great atmosphere, slightly chaotic - Track and set up was good, post race food was good, however they ran out of breakfast boxes, me and my friends did not receive any, i would suggest you make enough for everyone who participated or make sure to hand out to participants only. marshaling was spot on, post race was slightly annoying, race was delayed, getting bags and registration was horrendous. overall good event, room for improvement i would come again. ”
“Good.. But last year is much better.. - Comparing to last year, registration is very poor this year as the volunteer was directing us to a wrong direction which we insist that the registration was just behind him. Im not sure if he was just fooling us. Then we had to fall in one line just to get our bib no. But overall, the event is good. Venue.. Support stations.. Etc..There was cheerers now.. And definitely will join again next year.. Doha dash is way too far much better than ooredoo.. ”
“Great, few points to get better - Great race, keep in mind for the next time to (1) add mileage signs, it is needed (2) close the registration for those who are not on time, today we had to wait for an hour to start the 5Km because people were late”
“Not as good as last year - Dont get me wrong, this is now an acceptable event, whereas last year was great. Hamad al Marri was back and as great as ever, the tshirts were as good if not slightly better than last year (and those doing the kids 1k got them too, which was a plus), and the breakfast was a notch or two up in terms of quality and in a sturdy box rather than the bag that fell apart for some people last year. The track was the same, with slightly better coverings as one switched terrain on the 3km, hence a score of great this year. So what was worse? Well based on a similar number of entrants, why did it take so long to queue this time? (An hour and a half for us) whereas we arrived at the same time last year and it took 5 minutes, maybe 10. I put it down to asking people for their number rather than the tried and tested 'arrange the numbers by surname' method. Simple as that. What surprised me was that noone from the professional organisers walked down the queue and realised it was getting longer until around 9am, by which time they realised there was an issue and got a panic on. Only at 9.10 was the decision made to have those doing the 3km to go to the front. Ok, that major gripe out of the way, what else? -no 2km sign (apparently had been blown over) -why change the course so that the ever excellent Hamad al Marri could no longer cheer people as they neared the finjshing line? - the poor kids waiting for the 1km were told to go to the front and after waiting, ready to go for 5 minutes were then sent away for 30 minutes more? - why werent the changed times announced on loudspeakers or put onto signage? -why change the location of the breakfast pickup so that it became more of a scramble rather than an orderly queue as one ended the course? - why put DHL on the last bend almost blocking the track giving out water with 250m to go? Why tell their guys to smoke right where we were all queueing at 8am at the back of their stand and blowing smoke right into our kids faces as we stood less than 1 metre away in the queue? - why was the clock time 7 seconds less when we crossed the line this year than it showed on the website? (Yes we know the difference between clock and chiptime) - what did DHL actually bring this year vs those sponsors last year in terms of fitness? -why was the pre event email wrong in stating two 3km warm up times (we realised the second should have said 5km) - why did we get the chance to rate the event and congratulating us at 6am in the morning before the event? -why werent the water handlers at midway trained in how to give out water this year ( ie they had about 4 bottles in each hand and standing right where the rest of us would reach to the table to get more as there were only 4 water donators) Sorry, but all of the above things turned this years event into something just average, and with no even vaguely famous person along to start the event, shows the lack of imagination of taking this event forward, and indeed, a couple backward in my view. Will I be back? Yes, its exactly the sort of thing needs on sports day in Qatar, but please can it be improved upon to even last years event?”
“A bit of common sense needed with registration - This was a great event but really spoilt by the registration process. Where is the common sense? There was plenty of space - put tables outside, in boxes of 200 or so, forget using highlighter pens to tick off a sheet - just give out the numbers and you can tell from the amount of numbers left at the end who actually participated. It was far too long winded and very frustrating. Have separate tables for each event and away you go. It's not rocket science. Everyone had a wonderful time - so much potential and I hope the registration situation is rectified next time. ”
“It was chaos - It was difficult to find out about arrival times, race start times, and even how to find the venue. The queuing was ridiculous and more volunteers needed to support registration. I missed the start due to the queue to registration No goody bags was available as all gone. Did 5K as the 3K route had been dismantled Still no notice about times provided”
“Great run - very poor registration at location - Positive: a very special event to participate in. Running on a racetrack is not something you do every day. NEGATIVE: We arrived at 07.45 hrs, waited in line with many other people for our turn. At 09.10 we were almost there but then the people after us going for the 3 km were put first. This was not good at all! It made us and runners around us very upset and gave a negative swing to something which should have been fun. Suggestions: 1) Make registrations tables (sections) for each distance to separate the runners. 2) Put the numbers sorted so 1 person can handle them (1-100, 101-200 etc). Succes with the next event. ”
“Good day out - I nearly missed the race after having to queue for 1 and a half hours and wash;t given enough time to warm up before the race started. Last year you had 3 separate queues but this year only one. ”
“Has the potential to be a good event!!!!! - A good course and event BUT the registration process on the day needs to be sorted!!!!!! An hour and half to collect bib numbers was unacceptable. ”
“Event Pack collection - 90 min queue to collect pack. Why not have seperate queues for surname/bib no. like all other events in Doha?”
“It was good opotunity to run at circuit. - Registration was not organized. I waited 1 hour to register. The starting time was delayed due to registration cue.”
“BETTER than OOREDOO 2014 in so many ways!! - I'm glad i participated in this event! Some processed needs improvement such as: -Registration on event day and race pack collection. There was only one line for registration with thousands of people participated. -Race start time should be precise and not delayed. Other than that, my family were having great fun!! Shirts, medal and giveaways are awesome! BETTER than OOREDOO 2014 in so many ways!!”
“Ok - We were very upset we didn't get our race packs. We got there on time. They should have given them out according to the registration list or at the finish line of the race. ”
“Great venue and run, very poor registration. - Not enough toilets for number of people there - you should have had portaloos. No marshalling of people as they arrived so many people just pushed in at the front of the ques to register while the rest of us waited in the que - appalling. No control of handout of juice and fruit at the beginning so not all people in the que got it.”
“Huge disappointment - Being sports day and the promise of a 'family' event I registered for the 5km run. As instructed by email my family and I arrived 90 mins before race start. The queue for bib pickup was endless. There was no family entertainment to keep the kids busy while I lined up. There wasn't even a hot coffee for cold hubby. After queuing for 45 minutes and having progressed about half way we left. The kids had enough and my husband and I too - as apparently the race would start later due to the wait for bibs. My family was not willing to spend 3 hours in a place where there wasn't even a jumping castle for the kids. All in all money and time wasted. A huge disappointment as this was supposed to be our activity for sports day. I will not sign up to this event in future.”
“Registration/timings - Registration on the day and timings let the event down for me”
“Needs to start on time even if there is crowd - The registration wasn't working well and that brought a very long start delay. However, the event was great. And it s really special to run on a race track ! Enjoyed it!”
“Great event - Great event. delightful morning and will take part in it again. just needs a small bit of better organisation at the pre race pack collection, it was slightly congested. But great event and nice to get a medal aswell.”
“Must do better - Disastourous race pack collection system on the day. Massive queues and solution was just to delay start of the racing intead of solve the problem. Not enough staff to register and give out packs. Registration should have been by race. Music was also wayyy to loud. Family areas were nice but selling really unhealthy food like fizzy drinks and chocolate. At a fitness event. Ridiculous. ”
“I would repeat for ..........National Sports day! - The registration was appalling! there were huge queues which meant the races started late......we registered on line for efficiency ...no? but it made no difference............ people missed the races because of this poor organization. There needed to be many more people taking the details and giving out bibs and t-shirts and free bags etc. There were not enough toilets either. ”
“Lots of Events - Great effort, the course is nice, great how it is adapted for 1km, 3km, 5km - a run for everyone in the family. Staff were happy and courteous. Only improvements I could suggest include starting on time (if people are late they miss it, competitors responsibility to get there early enough. If everyone was there 1.5 hours before the even as the organizer suggested they would be there on time, don't make the others suffer. Also, the awards were confusing, we didn't really know who to shake hands with, when to walk off, etc. Overall very good. ”
“God course bad organization - Too bad, the registration was very bad! It took us more than 2hrs just to register and collect the bib#”
“A couple of things to fix - It seems you were not prepared for the amount of people... The collection of the packages with the queue needs to be sorted out.. Also, If Im registering online, i expect I don't need to be in a queue for an hour... The venue is good... but there were only 2 female toilets!!!! That needs to be sorted out also.... I arrived early and left early, but i would guess some more direction on the parking is needed..”
“Fun & Memorable event - I did not regret in joining this event. But the venue is too far for those who dont have vehicles, its ok for us who have but to those who dont have will have to take a taxi and in going home might hitch a ride for taxi dont pass there.. Maybe you can provide a bus for those would like to join and dont have a car.”
“Good fun, could be slicker. - Enjoyed the race, food/snacks were good and there was some cool entertainment. Registration was very slow which resulted in delays to the start time which was frustrating. Perhaps next time a larger area should be set aside for registration and set up some fast lanes for example A-J ; K-P; Q-Z. Alternatively an email communicating our race number could also have improved registration throughput. Also next time please don't assemble everyone on the start grid and leave them waiting for 30 minutes while people finish registration. Ability to lookup times / see them displayed on screens post race would be welcome.”
“Badly organised but great run. - Very long queue, 2 hrs until registration. No T-Shirt left in men's sizes, although paid for it. Race start all of a sudden, almost missed it. Great time though, I am happy.”
“Great event, could have been better organised - It's a shame that the front-end organisation wasn't better. There was one single registration for all runners in all categories. It could have been broken down alphabetically by event (3 km, 5 km, 1 km), pre-registered, un-registered (giving priority to pre-registered). It detracted from the overall energy. Getting off on a bad foot, so to speak. Otherwise, very enthusiastic facilitators/moderators. Clear course. Great giveaways. I would have given the event a 9 out of 10. Instead, maybe a 4. ”
“Excellent/great value. Checking in needs improve - Checking in needs improved . Could seperate by race or bib number to make it faster and more efficient. Everything else was superb!”
“Great event - Thanks to all - great event Only feedback would be - get registration sorted”
“Good run, not so good organisation - 1) bib collection was a disaster, ther should be different queues per race and per bib number 2) race should start in time 3) breakfast was over after the 3k race was over, peoplecoming from 5k race had nothing to eat 4) would have appreciated rankings (no prize) per age category”
“Great Race, lotd more participants this year. - Good organization up to the signing in this morning. It would have been much better to stagger the registration for the 3km and 5km so we weren't in queues forever.”
“A very friendly event but poor pre-start admin - The registration process was incompetent. I queued for an hour. Last year was much more efficient. What a shame that the enthusiasm and good will is dissipated by very poor administration.”
“VERY POOR ORGANISATION - WHAT A WASTED DAY - I was extremely disappointed with the organisation of this event. Lossail did not open the circuit to the participants on time and the toilet facilities were poor. As for the event, the registration was poorly organised, registrations were still happening after 09:30. The 3km and 5km races were delayed. No-one knew by how long. After 25 minutes of a delay I was told it would be another 30 minutes. So I promptly left, and did my run on the treadmill. I feel let down by the organisers of this event and also the facility hosting the event. On top of that, I had to answer all of the above questions even although they were not all relevant so any scoring from this page will be higher than it should be.”
“Registration was awful. - Registration took an hour, very poor for families left outside queuing with no information being passed on. Certain people being allowed to push in all very unfair!!! Once inside good. But unfortunately a stale taste was left.”
“The most badly organised race ever - This race was such a good idea but the registration was a shambles with the events delayed as they couldn't register everyone. The announcements were unclear and both the 3 and 5 km had no official start destroying the idea of a race. I did the 5km and a great proportion of people Started randomly due to the delayed race slow registration and poor announcements. There weren't enough t-shirts or race packs for everyone I would hope that the organisers will be refunding or part refunding participants due to the chaos that was this event. The course it's self was good but not being able to run it as an event with all runners starting together ruined it”
“Nice run, badly organised - Negatives registration took a hour. People looking through sheets of paper then going to find the number. T shirts ran out when we got there. Race started late. Positives. Good location well signposted and signed. Good support. Clear start finish. Would have been nice if more of 3k was on the racetrack. Good atmosphere music at start ”
