“Good event. Enjoyed it - Everything was generally really well organised and there was a good atmosphere. It is only the 2nd time I have done a running event and it was well delivered. The only criticism of the event was not enough water stations on the course. 1 critism of Premier online is I got so many emails about random events that I ended up marking it as junk mail. This meant I then missed the important emails about the event. Reduce the number of emails! ”

“Great event, but... - I appreciate the effort that goes into organising an event like this, even more so when there are 3 races one after the other - thank you. There were many water points on the route, why didn't any have isotonic/energy drinks? Running the full marathon, I could really have done with one after 30k. As I feared, finishing the marathon close to 3hrs would mean running with slower 1hr+ 10k runners, this was very difficult through the thin golf course road, I was forced off road a few times :( ”

“Event now has real potential - Far better organised than last year, the new sponsors and setting have given it a real boost, this is very promising for the future. Pros: Use of pacers this year was a great addition and crucial for novices. The water/gel stations were more frequent and better stocked. Advertisement and awareness was far better meaning more supporters on course. Very quick results update Cons: The route was very late in being published and wasnt 100% correct for the 2nd half. Not great giveaways for the cost.”

The support stations were well manned and at regular intervals. If I had to give one negative point the km markers were a little off during the first half of the race although the overall distance seemed to be accurate. I would come back to Muscat again for this race.”

“Proud for this to be my local marathon - Great organisation by the MRR Team. I was disappointed about the amount of littering from competitors. Loads of bins on Al Hail corniche but still people used the floor. Perhaps littering = disqualification for 2018 plus arubbish drop zones near every aid station. On the route: it would have been nicer to go further down Al Hail/As Seeb corniche rather than the back and forth along 18th Nov st.”

“A step change - With a new sponsor, this event has received a significant upgrade and now has a completely different feel which is a very positive development, apart from the course itself which could do with a bit of a revision - running along a highway doesn't compare with the Opera House, Qurum Park and the beautiful beach sections of previous editions. I would also like to see Muscat Road Runners given more prominence in recognition of their contribution over the years. Breakfast arrangements were 1st class”

Personal GPS showed that the 10k race was indeed longer (even if not 800m as was rumoured earlier in the week). The anxiety about an almost 10% increased distance was quite disturbing for some first time fellow runners. Please show the correct distances along the route!! Given the terrain, no one expected it to be absolutely exact, but be honest about it and indicate the real distances for motivational sake.”

“Excellent - I was hoping to be a place a broad, because the audience was great and the place was not room for the participants and the audience. Awards presented to the winners were not worthy of this great marathon and nice size. The organization was excellent and very wonderful, but there were no sports and recreational activities associated with the marathon and be special for families. “Very badly organized event - The route was terrible (not an easy as described marathon route, going through trash areas, construction, etc), the marshalling was not existing, support stations serving hot water, running through the highway with trucks and cars passing by with 140kmph. Also, I gave food to be delivered to me while running at the 30km and there wasn't station there. I never got my energy gels. Terrible experience. Never again. ”

“Excellent, largely local, mostly 10km runners. - Only criticism was that the faster marathon runners had to weave/push through the bulk of the slower 10km runners at the narrowest and most winding part of the course. This was slightly frustrating as it came when the marathoners were at their most tired.”

“Enjoyed the course - I loved running over the golf course and next to the sea. The map sent before the event did not indicate the few little out and back sections that were actually run on the day. The Walk in the Wave was a lovely place to start and finish but I did feel it was a little too crowded at the finish for all to enjoy the finish, meet friends and supporters and enjoy the festivities. Overall an enjoyable morning.”

“A noice morning in Muscat - Great event, very well organised and running through the golf course by the sea was beautiful. Overall highly recommend. Few bits to improve on: - overseas runners should be able to collect race packs the morning of the event - for faster runners there were water stations which weren't manned until the return leg - lots of roundabouts where people simply cut off the corner, more timing strips should help to prevent - was the half marathon course actually 21.1km? GPS watch showed 21km”

“Keep it clean! - There need to be bins for throwing away water bottles/gel packs after each support station. There were lots of people just chucking stuff by the side of the road.”

The two less good aspects were the course on some parts overcrowded with runners from other events, with some loops prone to shortcuts; no energy/hydration drink either than water. Last year event had those. This year we gained gels instead. Overall very good event, to do it again!”

Goodie bags could have been a bit more exciting with actually running themed goodies e.g. Gels, rehydration drinks, running lights etc. Race T-shirt really small size and poor fit. Breakfast voucher a good idea but it is more sociable to have a big area where everyone can sit together...hard to queue! ”

“Brilliant venue, organisation and exposure - Great location and we'll organised. Would prefer to start at at 6:30 instead of 7pm. Water stations should serve smaller quantity water, it quarter cup full as well as some energy drinks. Alot of water was wasted and plastic bottles. The rest was perfect. “Great day. Mostly good route. Good atmosphere. - I enjoyed the day as such. A good atmosphere, the weather turned out perfect and the marshals were very positive. Great to see so many toilets. Just some suggestions (not criticism): Maybe an extra water station towards the end. Rather than gels, some electrolyte drinks at every other water station? An extra marshal on the roundabout around 30/32k might have been good to stop people from cutting short. Unfortunately my results are wrong. I hope this will get sorted.”

“Could've been better organized - 2nd half of the full marathon course was very boring, if it would've been switched around it might have been better as the last 10kms are hardest! Needed more water stations towards the end as well, needed to be in a more populated area and not by a busy highway! Very unsafe route at the end. Just saw one toilet the entire course. Rubbish along the way was shameful, more bins along the route! I appreciate it was the first of its kind in Oman but more volunteers and better route next time!”

“Great event! - There should be more age groups. 55 and over is one age category! Start times can be earlier for 21k and 10k. Race can be through Muttrah cornice, palace,Sidab village, al Bustan palace. Local charities can be supported in the event. ”

“Unsatisifed with after finish service - There was just one counter each by Wellness for massage and cryotherapy; for 500 odd participants in half and full marathon this was grossly inadequate. I was disappointed by the chaos that existed especially for those who needed dire attention immediately after the race. Perhaps one should experience these services at other race locations to benchmark the service standards required.”
