“Good - The only downside was the even stated - MEDALS , but there were no medals at the finish. Some people collect t-shirts but most collect event medals as a reminder of the event. ”

“Needs improvement - Either the LENGTH, CERTIFICATION, or CONES to measure the course was short- although the location is what we go for. It is disappointing since YAS has weekly events with runners/walkers- which you would assume are measured. Can YAS not simply duplicate the 10k course of the fall ADNIC 10k. If you are going to co-ordinate with the NYRR in order to have an event, it is even more important to complete with a spectacular event in which people receive their promised water stops, measured/certified route, and medals/goodies promised. Get the local roadrunners club involved for a better event for all.”

“Enjoyable - Great event. Very enjoyable. However, results for junior category were not announced at the event. Had to wait until next day when results were posted online to find out time and race position. No medals for finishers as advertised.”

“Event Start - This is not really a criticism of the event organisers, however at the start it was very difficult to get the different categories into the correct starting place on the line. In particular children and parents, who obviously were not going to break any world records, but were fixed at the front of the line. I would suggest, making a separate line, cordoned off for families with children, so that other runners are not basically climbing over small children, who just stop in the middle of the track at the beginning of the event.”

“Great event - Great event! Areas for improvement: better quality t-shirts(get sponsorship) , better route signage and I personally did not like staff taking the chip immediately at the finish line. Runners can't be stopped after the race! Thank you for organizing it.”

“Zayed Marathon - Great job - The quality of T shirt and cap was not good. It was communicated the event start time is 1600 on premieronline website. Whereas on the 5 k start at 1920 which was not well communicated and it caused alot of wastage of time. Overall it was a great job done.”

“Directions for car park very poor. no medal given. - There were no prizes/presentations for the 10-17yr group running 5k even though the race details specified cash prizes for first 3 in all categories. Very disappointing especially as this group are so young , not to even get a mention at the end. My daughter ran the 5k and i ran the 10k so we finished at different times. Neither of us were given a medal or anything apart from a bottle of water at the end of the race. When we were leaving we noticed some people seemed to have gift bags. The finish line was chaotic and clogged-it should have been elongated and had barriers around it so spectators were kept back as the runners came through and there should have been one obvious exist for all runners. The directions to and from the parking areas were non existant and poorly organised. The start of the race was poor. 10k delayed by +15mins which is not good when athletes have warmed up to be ready at a certain time. The venue was good, very good post and pre race activities etc. Marshalling of the course good. Helpers friendly and informative. Enjoyed the run but really disappointed about the 5K 'kids' awards, or lack of them. ”

“Good cause to be running for - Why when an event says, medal for finishers were there no medals?”

“An interesting evening - There are many great events in the UAE including some at the F1 circuit but sadly this was not one of them. No pre-race communication. Course was short. Information point couldn't answer basic questions. 5k runners in the starting pen way too early - 40 minutes?. Timing results are not physically possible. No medal. Only one water station where it was DIY. Toilets etc not signposted. This should have been a great event to get people in the city running but failed on almost every level apart from atmosphere, some friendly marshals and having a competitive run with friends from outside AD.”

“Poorly organized - I get the sense this event was more of an "event" with music and chatter and dignitaries, etc... than an actual race. I would think very hard about participating again. Extremely poor organization at the start. Starting 20 minutes after promised time. Biggest problem: I have serious doubts that the "10km" course was actually measured probably. I made a sub-41 time (huge PB, apparently...) coming off an injury and no running for two months, and I went easy in this race. There's no way that's possible. Also, the kilo markers were simply atrocious. You should try having an actual runner run through the course (and each km himself) before you race to see the obvious flaws... coming through "5km" in 17 minutes on an easy pace when my PB is 19 mins? Not hardly! I appreciate that everyone has their "pet" charities and wants to run races for them... but I have been to dozens of better-run charity races than this. ”

“Unique Exoerience - As a visitor staying on Yas Island I found this race just before entries closed, and decided it was a real experience. Back in the UK I've been running through mud and water up to my knees, so the heat, (yes it's still warm to us escaping our own winter) and unique venue were things to enjoy. In the run up it could be better organised. I got several emails on the day of the race thanking me for competing the event, when it was still hours away. That spooked me to double check the date! Also, as a visitor I know I'm in the huge minority but there were no 'how to get here' instructions. Staying in the hotels on Yas I assumed I'd just jog over as it would be obvious. I guess there were driving signs for cars, but for little me, nothing! Great race though, thoroughly enjoyed it.....yes it started a little late but no one seemed to mind, it was for me just fun being there. BUT.....IF YOU PROMISE A MEDAL YOU HAVE TO GIVE ONE......and medals, as we runners know, MATTER! Also, drinks every 2.5km? Didn't happen...again, if you promise it then you must deliver. Afterwards as I walked my solitary way back I was given a lift by a Belgian runner, I didn't get his name but want to thank him for that random act of kindness! My wife was chewing the bedclothes with hunger when I got back! If I'm here when it's run next year, I'll be in!”

“Poor organization - Great cause, just poorly organized. We started around 20 minutes after the mentioned start time. We were all cutting corners so did less than 10km. Bag drop-off was not very efficient, very slow both at drop-off and pick-up. Lastly we didn't get any medals as mentioned we would!! On the plus side the track is excellent and well lit ”

“Kids area was a great idea we had a great time! - I was very positively surprised by the good organization of this race. Especially pleased with all the volunteers and the kid area with lots of things to entertain the little ones. AMAZING! The course was good, but shorter than 10K by almost 400m so I won't qualify for PB. Not enough water stations and some in the wrong side. Overall experience was very good, I will be there next year! Thanks to all the volunteers and it was a charity event so great to be part of it.”
