“The safety aspect of seeding of faster/more experienced riders (who have cycling race licenses) was negated by allowing all following seeded groups to join the back of the “front group”, on the start line, just moments before the race started. Therefore effectively “everyone” started together. Then, since the start was “neutralized”, many of the less and experienced riders were able to make their way to near the front of the peloton. This contributed to the high number of crashes.”

“Needed better assistance for the elite group (neutral) or allow each team/club to follow the elite group for mechanical assistance. Also, ambulances following the race were not enough considering the stats on crashes in this race.”

“Overall the event was well organized, but missed a bit of prior information (starting point and pack collection) in order to pick up the nearest hotel and the problem with the timing chip, which even though was solved super quick, did not allow some of the people to enjoy their well deserved podiums. Only thing I would change or specify better in the registration would be the requirements to access the elite group, which was not well defined and we had a misunderstanding with the organization.”

“Great vibe, fun route, excellent jersey, A+ goodie bag, nice lunchbox... lots of good factors and I will do it again! However it was more dangerous than necessary- the unlit section before sunrise contributed to the 7km crash, especially with gravel, and big potholes after speed bumps (lots of loose bidons rolling on the road), male helping female teammates by pushing them from behind (middle of peloton), one highway exit blocked by the support vehicle & a stopped rider facing sideways”

“Organisation was good but the route was very dangerous. Roads with speed bumps on them are not fit for racing in big groups at speed. Many riders bottles fell out of the bottle cages over the bumps causing riders behind to crash”

“It's was amazing challenge, but letting all groups start together gives more chances for rides to try to catch the first group which make them not to ride safely. It's always good to keep additional water stations in the uphill and bridges. ”

“Not enough portable Toilets at the start. If you have hundreds of riders, 10 toilets for both male and female is not enough. One junction fork in the road had no marshals which caused confusion. Parking at the end is a struggle. Timing issues were a surprise and made the celebration and recognition messy. Otherwise great event. Better route than last year. Great water points and availability of bottles. ”

“Female presenter shouldn’t mention prize money, it promotes risky behaviour that causes crashes (of which there were lots). It was difficult to find information about where the small bags were at the finish and what to do with bikes. Marshals should be visabke with a marked vest and directly riders better at the end. It would also help if this info was included in the info document (which was otherwise excellent). Our coach driver wanted to drop us off far fm our cars at the end.”

“All was perfect, but when I look for advise of the staff on the facility in Al Ain, mostly nobody was aware where the bag drop or cycling drop off. ”

“Organisation is poor. You advertised on Premier Online the age groups are taken on the day of the race, yet the timing chip company use UCI rules and the year of the event. So I was moved age group and lost out on the big cash winnings. Better communication on this factor is why it is a 5 from me. I am an organiser and can provide advice to make this event better, numbers are dropping year in year and with a small adjustment to the event, in my opinion, it will bring more and more entries. ”

“I trained for a long time for this event and came what I believe is 8th in my AG as the guy that passed the line with me was 7th and then the others behind us where in the youngest age group and my timing chip didn’t work. Very disappointed. I have been trying to find someone to talk to about this with no luck. ”

“Major improvement in organizing. The humps at the start should have been removed. Rest is a big improvement to the first and the second versions of the GF.”
