But there are some comments that would be great to work on: - route to be in balad to explore the historical balad of Jeddah - there was a very bad smell during the run which caused nausea to many people while running - water distributed was not cold - there was not much healthy food post-run”

“The medics should check the blood pressure when someone is dizzy. I happen to be one of them, when I ask for help, the medic just told me to drink more water, I already drink a lot but I was still dizzy. if I can stand and go to the area where I can lie down I would but I can’t I was too shy to lie down in the street. A guy also got dizzy.. his wife asked for help from the same medic but they checked his blood sugar but not bp. He said everything’s fine he just need water. They did not check bp.”

I also didn’t appreciate that there were only track records signs of the multiples of 2 but for examples there was no sign for 10Km but there was one for 11 but there was non for 12 then towards the end it just skipped the 18,19,20 KM There was only one station where they were handing out banana along the 21K line which is weird”

Moreover, waste management during the race was very bad you must put trash bin after each water station and out also bins along the race. Parking was very bad. You must inform participants about the roads closed and what is the best way to easily access the site. Send all the data at least 2 weeksin advance. Beautifull run in Jeddah Balad.”

“I’m happy for the jeddah half marathon event and it gave me a head start to focus and love myself especially my health but unfortunately, the medical team aren’t helpful, after reaching 2kilometers I went to ambulance if they have an available ice pack just to lessen my lower leg pain at least applying the ice pack for 10minutes but the thing is.. they pointed me to ask the next ambulance car but already feel disappointed.So I didn’t finish the line scared to can’t walk the next day.”

“All are great except the Medics they don’t know what they are doing. I’ve experienced severe muscle cramps in my both legs during the marathon but i stayed 2hrs inside the ambulance because the medics incharge of me don’t know how to address severe muscle cramps. After putting saline on me they just leave me in pain without addressing my pain. They said they already gave me pain reliever tablet and thats it! The muscle cramps keep on coming back to my legs and they don’t know what to do about it”

“Fabulous organisation. Emails beforehand weren’t great. I’m not on Instagram so ended up finding by word of mouth. Atmosphere on run when coming into balad when tired was a bit flat. Importantly the community feel to the event superb, there was a real buzz. Imagine how great it would be if you gave a few months to train/prepare for it. “Hi, my name is Hadi, I won 2nd place in 1K category, I was supposed to be on stage getting my prize and taking photos, etc. Surprisingly, after I was on the papers, some guy changed papers of announcing winners before announcement to add his friends, and someone else (who wasn’t a winner in the race) was called to be on stage instead and stole the prize, I went back empty handed after all the effort I did. You can check the system for my name, Hadi Bakour 1214, and I’m the winner.”

“I think, the starting time is late for a 21k event, that if you are an average runner, you will have to run under the heat of the sun, which is somehow affecting the performance of runner. It could have been scheduled at around 3 or 4am. The medals for each event could have been customized i.e., to include the event itself (e.g., 21k finisher). But overall, it was fun.”

“There was no water in Waterstations between 12Km until 18Km. The directions in Al Balad was poor. Signage wasn't clear enough for me to run smoothly. Toilets weren't enough at the start line and they weren't visible on the running course. ”

“Overall a Great event. A few things that could use improvement 1) More toilets at race village. All racers are drinking lots of water pre race. So we need easy access to toilets 2) Pre-race booths selling water, coffee, and drinks. For racer to hydrate. 3) Additional toilets on the race course. The course was an out and back. So toilets in the middle of the course at the 5K and 10K would be acceptable. Excellent event. Looking forward to next year. Maybe in January, weather is cooler.”

More water at the stations was needed, especially the ones where the 10km runners met the 21km. It would be good if more coffee and food stalls were available at the end of the race - we went elsewhere but would have loved to have stayed to embrace to atmosphere. ”

Only thing I think could improve was as a 21k runner who finished in 1:47, it was a little crowded when we first merged with the slower end of the 10k group. Maybe adjust the timing a bit to let more of the faster 21k runners avoid at least the back of the 10k pack.”

“Thank you for sitting up the marathon but there are some comment need to be considered: - would be rather if the race established in January or December because hot weather and humidity. - Refreshment (banana and Gatorade) should be every five kilometres. - official distance is 21.2Km, why do we run for 22Km?! - Bad smell because of fish market and treatment water. - It is better to give different medal for different distance. ”
