“This was one of my worst race experiences due to unprofessional event management. There were no marshals to help riders on diversions, which ended up with a 20-kilometre shorter race finish for 90% of riders and as a result, they all were disqualified. The wrong chip delivery caused the wrong results. ”

“very poor management. race pack collection was not clear, emails were not sent out to all with bib numbers. no water stations on the track or adequate water station at the end. Tshirts were not provided as announced. ”

“Unfortunately my timing was recorded as DNF even though I crossed the finish line before the 11:00 cutoff time, which was posted in the Premier Online ride information. Also in the published ride information it stated that there would be water stations along the route, but during the ride there were no water stations. This meant that some riders started the ride with insufficient water for the duration of the ride.”

“Advertising was poor, it was not advertised that there would be winners and what the prize would be which i feel would have been a really good selling point and also made more people attend and push harder. We did not get a free tshirt or anything as when we went up to the stand they were all gone. However so many people shoowed as not attended, did they not have enough tshirts for all participants? Or was someone not monitoring how many were taken? It felt a little unfair.”

“No MC microphone on the start line No race briefing on the start line- which is essential! Remind the athletes to stay safe, how to pass a slower rider, NOT to LITTER in the desert but to put wrappers of gels etc in your pocket! Not enough support vehicles - NO Sweep? Did not see an ambulance anywhere on the route Marshalls blocked off the extension to complete the 85km loop so our whole peloton ended up doing 63km -- which was still quite enjoyable. Thank you for a good race -- I enjoyed it!”

“The poor organizations cause many of the cyclists to take the wrong turn in a second extension of the Al Qudra cycle path.Marshalls were chating to each other instead of looking at a dangerous turn and preventing riders to cause accidents.”

“The route was not well thought of. The U-turn is impossible to take with a big group of riders. Therefore we were forced to go straight instead of taking the turn because we missed it and couldn't come to a complete standstill with the big group to let everyone turn back. It was simply too dangerous to do this. This was unfortunate. The route could have been made without the u-turn and that would have been an excellent race.”

“All of us in our team got a DQ remark because your route marshall put the orange con in a wrong way that made us in a wrong turn. Next time put a big arrow signage a meters a way for the next turn so that we will know if we go left, right or go straight. Not all are familiar of the route in al qudra like us who came from sharjah.”

“Road markings (i.e. U-Turn in the next 100m, U-turn in the next 50m…) can be improved. If marshals are assigned on critical turn points - they should give some signal to riders part of the race where to go. There were other cyclists who were not part of the race counter flowing in the track. This is dangerous and should be considered in the planning for future events. ”

“Next time if you offer completion gifts: A: Make sure you have enough B: Issue one per person I witnessed people just in front of us taking as many t-shirts (There where no caps left) as they could carry. As a result my team and I never got one between us (Team of 8). ”

“The very least an organisation arranging a race should do is to ensure that all riders do not miss a part of the track. Many cyclists on this ride didn’t complete the full 85km because they went the wrong way at a particular junction. Very unprofessional ”

The AQ track is too narrow in the first place to arrange big group races, let alone having it open for other people whom just want a relaxing Sunday morning ride. ”

“it was quiet dangerous because there were many other cyclists on the track (not racing) going in the same direction (slowly) and some going in the opposite direction. This caused some very dangerous moments, and no doubt annoyed the other cyclists on the track. The only other observation i had was that the directions on the track were not very clearly sign posted at the junctions or turns.”
